Modi to inaugurate Ujjain’s Mahakal corridor on Oct 11

Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly built corridor of the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain on October 11, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Monday.

While reviewing the project during a visit to Ujjain, the prime minister said: “The first phase of the ambitious Ujjain Mahakal Corridor project is nearing completion. Prime Minister Modi will visit Ujjain to offer prayers at the temple and inaugurate the project on October 11.”

The project, the Ujjain Mahakal Corridor, has been divided into two phases in which the temple complex will be expanded almost eight times its current size from 2.82 hectares to 20.23 hectares by August 2023.

Work on the first phase includes a 900-meter-long corridor filled with dozens of facilities, a theme park, a heritage shopping mall, electronic transportation facilities, among others.

In the second phase, the government has planned to transform the Maharajwada Bhavan school into a heritage Dharamshala, as well as the connection of the Rudra Sagar and the Shipra river, the beautification of the front lake area, the construction of a multi-level parking lot with space for 350 cars. , a railway underpass and the development of a 210-meter suspension bridge over Rudra Sagar would be undertaken, among others.

Additionally, a dynamic light show will be given at a venue near the iconic Ram Ghat. According to the state government, the work will be completed by 2028.

Notably, the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government had, earlier in January this year, approved an initial fund of Rs 500 crore for the development of the corridor.

Touted to become the most technologically advanced religious site in India, the government has planned to expand the Ujjain Mahakal Temple Corridor.

The monumental project is being developed under the parliamentary government’s broader plan to transform Ujjain into a ‘smart city’.

On December 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated his dream project, the Kashi Vishwanath corridor, in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi. Conceptualized by the Prime Minister himself, the corridor located near the iconic Dashashwamedh Ghat sought to clear the way to the ancient temple by removing properties that obstructed the corridor without litigation, while preserving existing heritage sites.

kyiv: A senior government official in kyiv has revealed that up to 13,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since Russia launched its ongoing war on February 24.

Speaking to Ukrainian media on Thursday, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, said: “We have official assessments from the General Staff, official assessments from the commander-in-chief (Zelensky), and they range from 10,000 to 12,500-13,000 dead.” reported the BBC

He said the number of civilians killed could also be “significant”

Podolyak further suggested that as many as 100,000 Russian soldiers had been killed since the invasion began, and that between 100,000 and 150,000 more had been wounded, missing, or unable to return to combat.

However, the Ukrainian military has not confirmed the count given by Podolyak.

The latest figures come after Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said last month that around 100,000 Russian and 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or wounded to date.

But the last update from Moscow in September said that only 5,937 soldiers had been killed since the start of the war.

The US general had also pointed out that between 15 and 30 million refugees have been created since Russia launched its invasion.

The UN has registered 7.8 million people as refugees from Ukraine across Europe, including Russia.
