Bengaluru: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast continued rain in Bangalore for the next five days. A yellow alert was issued on Wednesday.

The sources said that people will have to endure the current condition for a few more days and be prepared for the worst in the coming days in view of the heightened railway alert. The authorities are keeping their fingers crossed as staff work day and night to respond to people affected by the floods.

Those who live on the ground floors of the areas affected by the rains have been forced to move to the houses of their relatives and friends. People living on the first floor and above are forced to travel on tractors and boats for emergencies. They also face the problem of scarcity of drinking water. The situation is likely to worsen with more rain in the coming days.

According to official statistics, 85 regions and 2,000 houses in Bangalore have been flooded due to heavy rain. A total of 1,500 sheds were also underwater, forcing workers to move to safer locations. 22,000 vehicles were damaged and 30 apartments were surrounded by flood waters.

The two eastern areas of Bangalore, Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli, which are home to major IT companies, have been the hardest hit. Mahadevapura MLA Aravind Limbavali stated that all the water in the city flows through Mahadevapura resulting in the current situation. Encroachments were being removed to allow water to flow out of residential towns on the warpath, he said.

kyiv: A senior government official in kyiv has revealed that up to 13,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since Russia launched its ongoing war on February 24.

Speaking to Ukrainian media on Thursday, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, said: “We have official assessments from the General Staff, official assessments from the commander-in-chief (Zelensky), and they range from 10,000 to 12,500-13,000 dead.” reported the BBC

He said the number of civilians killed could also be “significant”

Podolyak further suggested that as many as 100,000 Russian soldiers had been killed since the invasion began, and that between 100,000 and 150,000 more had been wounded, missing, or unable to return to combat.

However, the Ukrainian military has not confirmed the count given by Podolyak.

The latest figures come after Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said last month that around 100,000 Russian and 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or wounded to date.

But the last update from Moscow in September said that only 5,937 soldiers had been killed since the start of the war.

The US general had also pointed out that between 15 and 30 million refugees have been created since Russia launched its invasion.

The UN has registered 7.8 million people as refugees from Ukraine across Europe, including Russia.
